Call Park Frequently Asked Questions

What is Call Park?

Call Park is a feature that allows BT Cloud Work Users to place a call on hold, send that call to a park extension, and let another user pick up the call on another phone by dialing that extension.

What’s the difference between public and private Call Park?

Public Call Park puts a call on hold in a public location that’s accessible to any user who dials an automatically assigned virtual location number. Public Call Park is the default setting and doesn’t require the configuration of any additional settings. It has a return time of 5 minutes.

Private Call Park uses the Park Location Group feature. A call placed on hold in a Park Location group is only visible and accessible to the members who use supported deskphones or the BT Cloud Work Phone application. It has no park return time limit.

What is a Park Location group?

A Park Location group is a private location in which specific users can park and pick up calls. Once users have been added to a group, the Park Location can be added to the user’s Presence on a deskphone on the BT Cloud Work Phone app’s HUD. Call Park supports up to 100 Park Location groups, with no limitation on the number of users per group.

For which BT Cloud Work plans is Call Park available?

Call Park is available for all BT Cloud Work plans.

How much does Call Park cost?

Call Park is included at no additional cost with BT Cloud Work.

Does Call Park work for inbound and outbound calls?

Yes. However, Call Park isn’t supported for outbound calling to another extension in your system.

Does Call Park work for transferred calls?

Call Park is only supported for warm transfers on deskphones that support the Call Park soft key.

Does Call Park work only on BT Cloud Work deskphones?

Incoming calls can be parked and retrieved on any BT Cloud Work deskphone, regardless of office location. The Call Park softkey is available on all Cisco and Poly devices (except Cisco models SPA 508 and SPA 303).

You can also park calls using touch-tone commands on the BT Cloud Work Phone.

Which deskphones support Call Park?

You can use Call Park on any deskphone, either by pressing the Call Park softkey or using the touch-tone commands.

How many calls can I park simultaneously?

50. The BT Cloud Work system automatically assigns park locations from *801 to *899.

NOTE: Park Location numbers are virtual system locations that shouldn’t be confused with user extensions. Virtual locations are preceded by an asterisk; e.g., *828.

How long does a call stay parked?

The default timeout value for Call Park, Public Call Park, and Park Locations is five minutes.

Can I change the duration of my Call Park Timeout?

To increase or decrease the duration of your Call Park Timeout, contact BT Cloud Work Support.

Which device receives a notification when the Call Park Timeout expires?

Notifications appear on the device where the call was originally parked.

What happens if I pick up a parked call while on an active call?

The active call will be placed on hold, and the parked call will be picked up.

What happens if I try to park an incoming call or a call on hold?

You’ll hear this error message: “Call is no longer available to pick up.” Your calls won’t be affected.

Can I park a call to a specific user extension?

No. You can park a call to a Park Location Group’s extension, but not to a specific user extension.

When I send a call to a Park Location group, will the virtual extension number be announced?

No. The parked call in a Park Location will be visible only on a Park Location group member’s phone.

How many Park Location groups can I have?

You can have up to 100 Park Locations in your phone system.

How many calls can I park in a Single Park Location?

Only one call per Park Location can be parked in a Single Park Location.

How many users are allowed in a Single Park Location group?

There is no user limit.

Can I add a user to more than one Park Location group?

Yes.

What happens if someone who doesn’t belong to a Park Location group dials the assigned DTMF code to pick up?

There is no DTMF support for Park Locations. It’s possible to call this location, but the call will be rejected with this error prompt: This group does not accept phone calls. You will now be disconnected.
